The Black Organizing Project (BOP) is a grassroots organization based in Oakland, California, dedicated to building Black community power and transforming systems that perpetuate racial injustice. Through advocacy, organizing, and community leadership, BOP works to create safe, thriving, and equitable spaces for Black students and families.
BOP’s landmark achievement includes leading the campaign to pass the George Floyd Resolution, which eliminated the Oakland Unified School District’s police department. This victory reflects their commitment to educational justice and their broader vision of dismantling systems of anti-Blackness while fostering restorative practices. By amplifying Black voices and driving systemic change, BOP continues to pave the way for a more just and liberated future.
The Black Organizing Project is building lasting change by empowering Black students and families and challenging systems of racial injustice.
